Photographic art print of the Animas River as it flows south into Durango and past the Durango and Silverton train making it's way north up to the town of Silverton.
The beautiful and fast-flowing Animas River flows from the peaks of the San Juan Mountains, south through Durango, Colorado and into New Mexico. It is one of the last free-flowing rivers in the state. The river gets its name from the Spanish term for "river of lost souls." But, don't let the meaning of the river's name deter you.The picturesque river is the perfect destination for outdoor recreation such as tubing, kayaking, stand up paddle boarding, white water rafting and fly fishing. For the less adventurous, there are trails that wind along the river offering the opportunity for a hike or a place to picnic while enjoying nature and the sound of the water.
