Looking at this image brings me back to my days in the Midwest. Fall would bring bushels of fallen leaves piled high. I can still smell the warm, moist, slightly dusty scent that would rise to our noses as we tromped through the piles. The crunching and crackling of leaves beneath our feet creating a joyful sound. The falling leaves were always the harbinger of the holiday season start. First Halloween, then Thanksgiving and Christmas and finally, the New Year; always full of so much promise. Somehow the memories of our youth never leave us no matter where we find ourselves.
