Brenta Dolomites outside of Madonna di Campiglio. Jagged limestone mountains tower above the landscape below. Above, is a dramatic, cloud filled sky.

The Dolomites began life 250 million years ago at the bottom of a calm tropical sea. The majestic peaks of the "monti pallidi" or pale mountains that we see today began to rise about 60 million years ago due to the collision of tectonic plates. Earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and the erosive force of wind, ice and rain have worked to sculpt the landscape into spires, towers, cliffs and pinnacles, also shaping cornices, edges, overhangs and plateaus.

The Dolomites is a region bursting with natural beauty and diversity. No surprise then, that the are has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Renowned for skiing in the winter months and mountain climbing, hiking and cycling in summer and late spring/early autumn, the area has something to offer year round.
