Description
I love looking at this fuzzy mass of Spiny Pincushion cactus in flower, like so many skeins of yarn waiting to be worked into something beautiful. Deceptively soft looking, the spines are razor sharp! Delicate miniature pink flowers dot the surface of these fuzzy cactus.
The Mammillaria Spinosissima is a clustering cactus, dark green in color, that grows up to 3.2 inches tall and in diameter. The white radial spines appear hair like. Flowers bloom in colors ranging from white to yellow and rarely magenta. The funnel-shaped flowers emerge from the axils of tubercles on previous year's growth, accounting for their interesting halo effect.
