Description
Photographic Art Print. Beautiful, rugged rock formation seen on the hiking trail to Rifugio Tuckett. I took this photo in the beautiful limestone alps located in northeastern Italy. The capture is not only beautiful but rare. Uncharacteristically for early September, it had snowed the day before, dusting the rocks with snow.
Hikes can start from the bottom of the valley or from higher up the mountain, thanks to the ski lifts that take you quickly to higher elevations. On this day, my companions and I started out from Madonna Di Campiglia.
The Dolomites, located in northeastern Italy, has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The area is renowned for skiing in the winter months and mountain climbing, hiking and cycling in summer and late spring/early autumn, offering something for everyone year round.
On our latest trip, we chose to stay in Madonna Di Campiglio, considered the pearl of the Brenta Dolomites - Trentino. The town is discreet and elegant, nestling at an altitude of 1550 meters in the beautiful valley between the Brenta Dolomites and the glaciers of Adamello and Presanella. Although it ranks as Italy’s number one ski resort as well as one of the most important resorts in the Alps, we chose to visit in early Fall to take in the breathtaking beauty of the area while hiking.
